just a refreshing thought...

so here is something that has been bothering me lately. from the parable of the 4 soils, i feel like the soil that's grounded, but grows up fast and has no roots. by that i mean that i read and get great ideas but never make them into actions, passions, etc... i need to act on what i read, or there was no reason for me to read it in the first place. i need to find joy in seeing how those actions affect me and others around me. so, i encourage you to live by doing not knowing. go deeper by figuring out how to apply what you've learned, and then do it!

my pastor told me this a long time ago and i wrote it in the back of my Bible:

maturity isn't how much you know,
it's how much you love the people of God.
it's not how many verses you know,
it's how many you do.

piper says: the essential mark of a Christian is not how far you have progressed in sanctification, but on what you are relying to get there.

I know exactly what you mean. it's discouraging alot of times to read and learn but it seems like nothing in your life is changing.

Sanctification is a huge part of the Christian life but it's the hardest part too! Being "set apart" is somthing that takes a concious effort daily.
Thank you for your heart and for being willing to voice the things that we all struggle with.
I'll be praying for you!
Have a great week.

Amen sista, I have thought about that a lot lately, as I have been reading a few of John Piper's books and wondering how I can put into action some of the things I have been convicted about through reading his thoughts on living a life that is centered on giving God glory in every aspect of our lives!
